the compost center is open Friday and Saturday 9-3. Yard debris including limbs can be taken to the center during those hours. DPW crews will not be picking up yard waste until fall leaf pickup.
So if a storm takes a limb down and it lands in the street, this is the property owners responsibility?
What color is the sun in your solar system?
What happens if the person with an issue doesn't have a vehicle to deliver items to the compost center?
There are times the City will declare an emergency following a storm and announce a special brush pickup.
The City does not "own" the yard in front of your home. We have a right to access the space between the curb and the sidewalk but the property owner owns to the curb. Few cities have the resources anymore to do "service on demand" for incidents like this. We instead provide a place for property owners to bring their yard waste.
Dear DPW,
The city most certainly does "own" the curb lawn and the trees located in it.
This fact was made perfectly clear when the DPW and their minions destroyed over $200.00 of perennials in my curb lawn garden when they repaved Mansion Street and replaced selected sections of my sidewalk a few years ago.
Is spite of having a commitment from the DPW Director to "work with me" the DPW trashed my garden and never apologized for the damage caused.
Very truly yours,
R. Budesky
